flame goes on for 5 seconds then goes off then on for 5 seconds then off

0 Flame sensor is bad. Like I stated a few posts earlier...make sure your connection to your flame sensor is clean as well. You can kind of milk the flame sensor along by cleaning it with something mildly abrasive (no rough sandpaper) but it is on it's way out and should be changed shortly rather than waiting until it craps out entirely.

0 Byt the way...being that you probably don't know what the flame sensor looks like or is located...look at where the flames are shooting out when initially ignited. There will be a metalic arm type of thing that is in the path of one of the flames. This is the flame sensor.
