3 Remove the entire front cover by grasping it on each side of the unit and pulling it gently forward. It comes off easily without tools. With the cover off, the batteries are easily visible at the top of the unit.

1 Pepco put us all at risk by installing the wrong batteries in these units. They betrayed our trust and this is inexcusable for a power company to not understand this basic electrical principle. Shame on them. Speak out.

0 Pepco installed this thermostat in my home and also installed alkaline batteries in this unit. This created a fire and explosion hazard in that the thermostat is not designed for use with alkaline batteries. No one from Pepco has answered my requests for clarification.

0 So is this just a matter of using different non-alkaline batteries ? Pepco has no answer as to what is the problem.

0 This was simply a manufacturing error from WR and has NOTHING to do with Pepco. Three thermostats stopped working out of 170,000 installed in other markets. NOTHING happened at Pepco. No explosions blah blah blah. Remove the batteries.
