My 40 gallon Whirlpool gas water heater Model #N40T61-343 indicator light is blinking 4 times which indicates; high temperature shutdown. How do I fix this?

5 Try turning down the main water temp, as the heat in the furnace is to hot and is protecting you and others from hot water burns
