0 All the water heaters from American or Whirlpool that begin with FG but NOT FGB have a kit you can have shipped or go to the link to find which kit you need and your local Lowes has them at NO cost to you. If you can handle turning off the gas handle soem easy instructions you can do this in about 45 minutes. The kit includes a NEW burner assembly pilot tube, Thermocouple that can be replaced by the "universal" ones found everywhere.. I did it last night and it works fine..
