New in 97. 14 service calls since to solve problem of failing sporadically to ignite. Replaced furnace kit, cone, zone valve x 6 and igniter. Woke up this morning 55 degrees inside and -5 outside. Technicians at a loss. We can unscrew the fuse...and reinsert it and the furnace will run again until the next time it quits.

4 these units will make 5 attempts to ignite, then go into lockout. that would explain it restarting after the fuse is removed then reinstalled. (That resets the lockout control) Failure to ignite can be caused by any number of things. Your installer s.b. able to locate and correct thix problem. common causes are backpressure in the exhaust venting sometimes caused by wind pressure at the termination point, failure to detect flame, improper gas pressure to unit, to name just a few. Hope that helps. Mike

4 Mike is correct in that the boiler has locked out. It is simply recycling after the fuse is reinstalled. The reason it restarts is that the conditions do not exist now that caused it to not ignite in the first place. It sounds like the boiler is sensing a problem in the purge cycle either with high pressure at the exhaust point or lack of intake. Is it sidewall termination or vented into a chimney raceway? My experience with these boilers is that they are sensitive to to long exhausts or too many elbows in the exhaust. Have you replace the control module?

4 I also have the Weil-McLain Gold GV SN CP3100183 Controller - Honeywell S9301A1001 Ignitor Control Model - 36C98 Type 303 That has the same problem. We have had the repair techs out here scratching their heads ($$$$). two trips ago he replaced the Ignitor then the last time he was out he just flipped the switch Off then back on. Suprise, it worked again. The Honeywell unit does try 5 times then goes into lockout. (flashing Purge light). (today) while looking for help on this situation I did stumble on the attached recall which sounds like it may affect this unit. (not sure on the date code yet)... Did you finally track down a solution besides the random replacement method?

2 Took the board out of the controller and re-soldered the 24v pins a relay leg and one control pin. Works great now.

0 I also have the WM gas boiler with the same problem. It refuses to light off and the little purgelight is blinking until the power switch is turned off then on again. Then it is fine till the next time it conks out. Which is becoming more frequent...........Rick
