0 My Weil-McLain HE-5 Series 3 propane boiler's gas valve (White Rodgers Model 36C74 Type 227) fails too, in six months the valve has failed (at first intermittently), and been replaced, three times, and now the newest one is failing again. Service has shown good input gas pressure (~11WC), good output pressure (when it works) at ~10WC, 24VAC on the inputs for seven seconds even when the valve fails to open, and zero pressure output when the valve fails (24VAC applied). Help! April 26, 2010

0 I posted the last comment of April 26, 2010. I found the problem by calling Weil-McLain tech support at (800) 526-6636. Turns out I have Taco zone valves, and an isolating relay is needed between the zone valve circuit and the boiler "start" terminals. Without the isolating relay, the gas valve was burning out, support said the transformer can also fail in that situation as well. Furnace running fine with isolating relay installed and new gas valve. Will keep you posted. May 5, 2010.
