i am replacing my old trane thermostat made by hon...

i am replacing my old trane thermostat made by honeywelll. it is not programable. it only has fan setting and ac. t8524010988. there is a wire to the R on old unit what does that go to on a new honeywell system. old unit is about 5 years old. email me and will send picture of the thermostat
