3 a (comp)ressor will produce heat through the discharge line . A seized comp often will blow the fuses . Look at the rating on the comp for LRA (locked Rotor amperage), measure the amp draw on the input when energized. If it is close to LRA and stays there, the comp is locked up. check start or run capacitors, if any, with ohm meter. If these are ok but LRA has occurred try a hard start capacitor piggybacked onto existing capacitor. If this jars it loose you may get some more life out of it

0 I would concur with the first comment. What I would add is to check the ohm readings on the terminals of compressor and see if c-r +c-s = s-r and run a test to ground with a megohmer. Even if the compressor checks out electrically it can be a mechanical problem which results in LRA and opening of internal overload protectors. If the starting components are good and from a cold start the compressor fails to start, your compressor is bad. Wiring diagram won't help. Also make sure power is making it to compressor leads. Could there be a bad connection somewhere?
