0 normally your HP won't operate below somewhere between 28-39 degrees,the secondary furnace will come on until demand is met.on cold nites the 2/systems interact. go over your manual to become familiar w/system. it does save money over just gas furnace,i've had 1 since 1995 and it's been great. keep the filters changed when dirty.
