Hi, I just had the Seer 16 package Dual Fuel system installed. We have 12" ceilings and 2173 sq ft down stairs (12 vents and 2 - 20x20 intakes). I am disappointed in the operation so far. I know our old unit (a Rheem 10 SEER gas (LP) package unit from 1999) definitely had more air flow. I think it had a lot more BTU’s for heating. So with the dual fuel I was expecting to be able to run both the heat pump and the gas pack (LP) to save money on LP costs and stay warmer. With the old unit we would feel drafty in the house probably because the air flow was so much higher and hotter. We were happy with that side of this unit. We just had a real cold spell and the installer had to set the unit to the Dual Fuel lockout mode to prevent the unit from entering a system lockout (High temp). I would think the unit should increase the air flow to cool the heat exchange to prevent a high temp and also provide the house more even heating. The figure 21 on page 18 of the publication no. 18-HDH25D19-3 is exactly how I wanted the Dual Fuel mode to operate. I liked the heat pump side to keep temp, while the LP could boost and do the big increase in temp. We liked how the system operated – we set the night temp to 58° and then set it to 63° for wake. The old unit had the house warmed in 20 minutes. This unit ran for an hour and only increased the indoor temp by 1 degree. (temp was in the high 30’s F) I don’t know if the dual stage of fuel is being told run in low fuel or high fuel mode properly – and I don’t feel any increase in blower speed. We have been patient while the installer is learning this system. He has been very friendly and has had to call for how to set it up the best. I don’t think the programming side of the control unit is working the way it should. After 10 minutes in heat pump mode it would kick in aux, but then kick off aux before it should (or it would get the high temp alarm and shutdown). I have the manual referenced above and the Installers guide. In the installers guide it references the ECM fan and making any adjustments to see the SERVICE FACTS document. I found one on the internet but it did not say how/what the dip switches should be at to increase air flow. The rooms closest to the unit will be 80° + while the farthest bathroom will be 57° when the unit is set to 63°. Please tell me I have not purchased a lemon of a device?
