I can't get the pilot light to stay on. I manually...

I can't get the pilot light to stay on. I manually tried lighting the pilot light. Will not stay on. I have tured the knob to pilot which does light. Once release, the pilot light goes out. Can't turn know to "on" because once i stop pressing the knob on "pilot" the pilot light goes out. Please help!
