I am putting my WA1211S into a window. Everything...

I am putting my WA1211S into a window. Everything seems reasonably clear, except for one point. How do I attach the accordion curtain to the air conditioner, itself? The curtain keeps folding itself to the curtain frame away from the unit. Something magical seems to happen between 1b. and 1c. in the manual.
