My 3-month old LX-140 has just begun to leak water under the unit. I can't determine the cause. There is nothing in the manual about this. Does anyone have an idea about what the cause could be and how to fix it?

0 I've been trying to research whether the heat pump operation of this machine has a defrost cycle. In doing so have seen your problem posted elsewhere. Owners manual note says that under interior low temp and high humidity conditions that the condensate may not discharge in time and will fill the condensate bucket setting an indicator light on the panel and stopping cooling (for a long time) before it overflows onto the floor. I believe the unit will continue to try to evaporate the condensate (perhaps w/condenser fan, only, hence the "long" time?). However, others describe the leaking, too, so I suspect the auto shutoff is not stopping the unit or that windage within the unit is keeping condensate from draining properly to the tank. In talking to Soleus Customer Service, they suggest in that case to speed up the return to operation by draining the unit, manually. However, they caution against draining the unit (completely) when interior temp is 90+. I suspect that the unit uses the evaporation of the condensate to enhance release of heat from the condensor? If any of the above applies to your situation, I suspect that it only occurs when first trying to regain control of a hot and humid space. Does the unit continue to leak once the temp and humidity are under control? Perhaps the space has a high humidity load from internal sources or high inbound traffic from uncontrolled spaces. If so, can you reduce the humidity/traffic load? Dunno, just gueses. Good luck. Now, can anyone help w/whether the heat pump, does a defrost cycle? Tks.

0 I forgot to say that I believe Soleus Customer Service said that a condensate pump was available. (My Fujitronic unit has an automatic internal condensate pump that ejects excess condensate out through a small hose that threads inside the exhaust tube and hangs outside. In humid conditions I do hear it cycle on and off.) ecc
