I cannot seem to get the correct setting for a straight stitch without the thread cutting.

0 Which thread is cutting? The bobbin thread or the spool thread? I have found that loosening the tension will keep the thread from breaking. Also, the eye of the needle might be cutting the upper spool thread, so I would change the machine needle. Hope this helps.
