0 When you slide back the throat plate, under the needle..there should be a button ( small) on the lower left side. To wind bobbin, place empty bobbin in bobbin case, push button down, bring thread under foot, up around side screw and hold tight. Press the foot pedal, and bobbin winder will engage. Fill bobbin..thread you are holding will fall away, if threaded properly. wind until you have the amount of thread you want...bobbins hold about 18 yds. thread..each white ring on bobbin is about 6 yds...After filling bobbin, close the throat plate, releasing the wind button from the down position...re-open throat plate..and let needle go down..and catch bobbin thread...pulling both under foot. Hope this helps..
