I'm concerned that the timing needs to be adjusted...

I'm concerned that the timing needs to be adjusted on my machine. The stitch runs well for a little bit - then goes haywire. I've owned the machine for over 25 years and never had a problem like this. It's not consistant in how the thread catches, either. Sometimes on the looper, sometimes eleswhere.
