I have removed the old belt from my Singer 348 Sew...

I have removed the old belt from my Singer 348 Sewing Machine by opening the case and cutting the old one off. I Have a new one to put on the machine but the belt is too tight for me to put the belt on the wheel and then put it back on the machine. How do I do this?
