0 You have to open the plate to expose the bobbin. Then silde the plate back as if to close it and it will stop before it can close all the way. Wrap the thread from the needle around the screw that you tighten when inserting a needle and hold the tread end so it doesn't come loose. Push down on the pedal and the bobbin will begin to fill. When it is full(to the outer black ring of the bobbin) push down on the little rectangular button that the throat plate is stop on and push the plate closed. You may want to cut the thread from the needle to the bobbin before sewing again.
