The attachment that holds the pad is stuck on the ...

The attachment that holds the pad is stuck on the machine and I cannot remove it. I have used both the rectangular attachment and the triangular attachment many times and have not had any trouble removing either. Do you have any suggestions? Could it be the button on the tank is not working to release the attachment?
