I cannot program a gm or ford visor transmitter t...

I cannot program a gm or ford visor transmitter to my 53000SRT openener ....is the product limited to only Sears remotes? Also have no problem with 2 Dodge Vehicles....Is there a limit to the number of remotes an 53000SRT can handle?
