Pump only pumps to first tier then gurgles. I can...

Pump only pumps to first tier then gurgles. I can see the liquid go up and down but then the gurgle starts *from the main pump intake thing) about once every 20 seconds. Everything else works fine but liquid won't go up tubes. Help! My party is this afternoon!
