0 Hi Justine. Yes you can put a little water in for humidifying the air. I have just downloaded the manual from here (there is a pdf manual download icon at the top right): http://rinnai.co.nz/tradesmart/product_179_rinnai_energysaver_551ft.html Got my unit to run the first time again this winter. Have not found out yet how much water to fill in. The manual does not seem to say... I go with 1/2 liter for now. /HWS
