Question About Rheem Water Heater PE Series

older hot water heater,,,, 220 power newer units are 2 wire systems this is a 4 wire system,,,,, is it red and black top and bottom or is it a red and black to one leg white and then red and black to the other leg which would be black,,,, or how about just the 220 wiring diagram
