Question About Pfaff Sewing Machine hobby 1042

Hello, I have a Pfaff hobby 1042 machine. I don't understand the settings. If I want to use the D stitch (zig zag), I can determine what width or length as the view indicator has C/D -3./-.5 ?? Does this mean that D Zigzag stitch .5 is for length or width? Tammy
