how to set the time?...

I seem to be able to set time and temp changes, but not the current time.

5 The front cover of my thermostat 0969 has the following instructions for setting the time. 1)Press & hold SET button. Press PROG/MAN button. Release both buttons. 2)Press v or ^ to set the current time. (Note AM/PM) 3)Press SET button. 4)Press v or ^ to the number which represents the current day of the week (1=Monday, 2=Tuesday, etc) 5)Press SET button. 6)Press v or ^ to change the temperature differential. 7)Press SET button.
