I have an older Vigilant wood stove that when you close the dampner it seems to smother the fire. It has all new gaskets, been cleaned inside & out, stove pipe is clean & clear. When the dampner is left open, it does not give off the heat that it used too. I have a thermostat on order but even with the thermostat half open it still does not create the heat. Any suggestions?
