Question About Lux Products Thermostat TX500E

We purchased this product two days ago. It worked for a few hours but then stops A/C output at 82, comes on for 5 minutes with sort of cool air, then shuts off for 15 - 20 minutes. Is it a "setting" problem or may there be something else incorrectly connected. We remodeled our home. Thanks
