We had a wood pellet stove installed a little over a month ago that has had one problem after another and has become real frustrating. The dealer installed it, flipped the manual to us, told us to read it and then left us hanging. We get a mountain of unburned pellets in the burn pot, so that shuts the unit down. We get a lot of soot build up in no time--so much so that the glass doors are completely covered in soot, not to mention the rest of the inside of the unit. One time the flame is very high, the next time it burns at a normal height. I've adjusted the air intake and that does no good. We were told a hopper of pellets would burn 24-36 hours. Right. We go through a 40-pound bag of pellets in 15 hours. The dealer has been out twice, adjusted this, tweaked that, started up the unit and it works fine, UNTIL about 12 hours later. Last night, after burning for probably 10 to 11 hours without a problem, AFTER ANOTHER service call from the dealer, I added pellets for the night. Nothing was adjusted or changed. The flame pot went dark, it over-filled with unburned pellets and wound up dumping probably a half-gallon buckets worth of pellets before shutting itself down. This is not what I spent over four grand for--to have a stove work one day out of the week. My opinion is this stove is a piece of junk and I would not recommend anyone purchasing one in the near future. My dealer told me this morning that it takes time to "tweak and adjust and get used to the unit." Fine. IF the damn thing would work for more than a day at a stretch then I would have the opportunity to 'tweak and adjust.' Does anybody have the phone number for Travis Industries? They don't list a phone number in their manual and I don't find it listed anywhere on their websites. I wonder why? I'm about ready to unhook this stove, pack it up in my truck, drive out to Washington state and shove it up somebody's ass.

3 To say the least this stove is a nightmare! I have had nothing but trouble since I bought it in Sept. The dealer I bought it from treats me as if it is my fault the pellets get jammed and the fire goes out well this happens everyday every time I add a bag of pellets. Then tonight it was running well so I set the therosat at 68 and left for several hours and came home to a house so filled with smoke I couldn't breathe. The whole auger caught on fire. It is storming and ice like wind I have all the doors and windows wide open while I scoop out the burning pellets from my auger. I am going to demand a new stove first thing in the morning all hell is going to break loose.

2 I also have the same stove and the same problems. We had the firepot filling up with pellets and the entire stove itself covered in black soot. The dealer first said we had bead pellets, that mind they sold us 2 tons of, so we just paid for another ton of better pellets. And while these have a lot less ash, we still have pellets pilling up. So they told me I needed to not "play" with the restrictor. So they said to set it around middle and then try not to touch it and see how my home "adjusts" to that and also remove the log set. Of course if I change the temp. I keep feeling like I need to change the restrictor. But I did not. I noticed the first 2 day at set around middle it burned "better", but then the second day the burn pot filled, so I did what they said and moved the restrictor out a little and let it be. Well that was a mistake because this morning the burn pot was full and the auger dumped tons of pellets as well as everything was black again. My god, we have been cleaning this this daily and still not working. We are also very frustrated! We paid a lot of money. Did anyone have any luck getteing money back or different stove?

1 When I read your comments, it was like reading my own nightmares here. I have experienced everything to a 'T', that you described. I am very upset myself and Travis industrys acts like this is my fault also. I do have there number if you still need it. My dealer wont take it back either. I think I am taking them to court, and sueing for false advertising!

1 Nice (sorta) to hear I have not gone nuts. I purchased mine in June of 07 and I have finally FINALLY used 2 and a hlf tons of pellets. Having the same issue with dealer claiming it's the pellets. I have talked to Travis to get some help. I'm stuck with only 3 dealers in my area. So I am limited to who can service it. this last weeke I hvae had to shut it done in the middle of the night quite a few times due to the burn pot filling up with unburned pellets. I have threatend to sue to have the dealer remove. Been the worst investment I have made.

0 Running a yankee bay insert for year #3 and hate it. It shuts down frequently (twice so far this week) - for some reason pellets stop feeding, it just about goes out and then pellets start coming out again, lots of them. We find the stove out with a pile of pellets in the burn pot. And it is a pain to clean. Buy a Harman. NH, 12/16/2010

0 Owned my Lopi three years, & replaced the ignitor three times. I am really not happy with this heater, & could not recommend a Lopi to any one.

0 I bought a stove 3 years ago, I like it, think it does what I need it to do. I have found getting parts to be a hassle, retail dealers are not stocking parts, and you must go through the dealer... not exactly what you would call "service". I'm talking a $2.50 gasket for the clean out ports. What a scam!

0 Was just told there is a plate on the back center of the stove that is the cover for the air intake and that cover should be removed and the 12 inch deep channel should be brushed out...
