Question About Lennox International Inc. Thermostat 81M28

The main "display light" is out and nearly impossible to read on my 81m28 Signature Stat. It appears very much like the old film negatives. Otherwise, the thermostat is functioning just fine. Is there a quick fix, or will i need to replace the whole expensive unit after only 6 years?
