I am seeking to replace the filter of this old Lennox gas furnace (the present one is not right) ... I'd also like to know what is the purpose of the drum-frame in the filter compartment? It slides out, and I suspect it may have had a half-drum container within its frame that held water; thus adding humidity to the heated air flow, though I'm unsure.
