When I replace the batteries in my Kidde Ionization Smoke Alarm Model 0918 (2004) the emergency light stays on until the batteries are dead. & the test button does NOT work?

0 The manual does not help with this problem. I have the same issue, have read the manual, and didn't find a solution.
