I am wondering if this detector will work if it's sitting on a shelf on not on the ceiling bracket, I find it very very sensitive and constanly going off when I turn my stove burners on or open my oven door.....when it is on the bracket(ceiling) it is very difficult to hush and right at the top of a stairway which could pose a risk of falling down the stairs.
