my kidde carbon monoxide detector is 5 yrs. old. I...

my kidde carbon monoxide detector is 5 yrs. old. It started beeping every 30 seconds. I changed the batteries.now the display shows a weird letter, kind of a sideways capital "T" and a small horizontal line at the top after that. Do i need to just replace the whole thing? I have no manual. (It did strop beeping with the new batteries).
