5 Hello, Follow these steps to chage you vacuum belt: 1. Turn the Kenmore PowerMate vacuum off. Unplug the power cord. 2. Turn the PowerMate base upside down. 3. Unscrew the two screws connected to the cover. 4. Position the base right side up. 5. Press the handle release lever. Lower the handle to the floor. 6. Lift the base cover off. 7. Lift the agitator brush out of the base. Slide the old belt off the belt and motor shaft. 8. Position the new belt around the motor shaft. Wrap the other end along the groove in the agitator. 9. Replace the agitator into the base. Replace the cover. Press down to snap the cover in place. 10. Turn the unit over. Install the two screws that connect to the base cover. I hope this helps.
