My a/c do not cut off. Cool fines temp is set on 7...

My a/c do not cut off. Cool fines temp is set on 72 and temp in house is 73 but does not cut off at all runs and cuts off at night time. How do you put a battery in. I have not change battery for 2 yrs.Battery low does not show add new battery. Ab
