5 I don't have the manual but I do know how to change the belt. The belt you need is Hoover 38528-040. You also need a flat head screwdriver. Also work in brightly lit area so that you can clearly see markings on machine. Release handle so that it lays flat on the ground then flip over. Look for arrow markings to find all locking tabs. First remove bottom plate. Insert flat head screw driver into 2 notches on either side of bottom plate and GENTLY push back tab while pulling plate slightly towards front of machine. There are no screws to remove you just have to release the locking tabs. Once the plate is off you have to remove the top hood. Remove top hood by releasing locked tabs on both sides of machine from bottom near brush roll cavity and top near wheels. Locked tabs are marked by arrows towards front and back on both sides of the machine. Insert screw driver into groove and gently twist while trying to separate top hood from bottom assembly. It's tricky but doable. Take care as one side may relock while you're trying to unlock the other side. Sometimes I turn the machine on its side once its released. Once hood is unlatched. Turn over and pull off hood. Clean out all debris and make sure agitator turns smoothly and is clean. Slide new belt around metal motor pulley and push belt so that you can access it from bottom of machine. Then slide belt onto brushroll in belt groove. Pull back to lock into position. Turn brush a few times once in place to ensure that brush and motor turn properly. Then align hood and press into place. Do same with bottom plate. You don't need the screwdriver to reassemble just align all tabs and push everything into place, you should here clicks as everything relocks. Good luck, and take your time. Its all plastic so if you think your prying to hard and not having luck, look closer at the machine to make sure the screwdriver is in the right notch. ROBTSREALTOR@aol.com
