5 with the vacuum body on its wheels, lightly grasp the carrying handle and lift up. Do not grasp the entire handle as just the "upper" plastic lighter color piece, which includes the parts bay, will come away from the rest of the vacuum, leaving a sandwich portion of the handle behind. I have a D1000 and just played with it until I figured it out.
