0 You should only have to push the three pronged piece into the hole on the top of the agitator casing under the lttle 'flip door'. There is a square plastic insert on the dirty water reservoir that you have to remove and then slide the furniture attachment in its place. I can't think of anything that would cause it to leak unless the seal is worn out around the prongs.
