Hello, I have an 8601D1029 that I am using to replace an old thermostat. when I use the wiring diagram that is suppied with the unit . It won't come on . I have 24 vacs at my red wire but I don't have a common . What wire should I use for the common?? Thanks you email me at Alvin49tx@hotmail.com

5 Connect the common side of the thermostst to the C term on the top row , then take theother end of the wire and put it on the 0 volt or common sid e of the llow voltage transformer.The best way to find that side of the transformer is to put one side of your volt meter to the R/Rc term and then the other lead to the low voltage side of the transformer.When you see the 24v on your meter you have located the common side of the supply voltage.If all else fails and you have no meter just put the common wire to the metal of the control cabinet and you will also get the low voltage common.
