The heater could not be turned on at thermostat. But the AC and fan could be turned on. As a test, the thermostat switch was set to “off” and the R and W wires were disconnected from the Q682 SUBBASE and twisted together. The heater did not come on. When the R and W wires were put back to the original position, the AC and fan now could not be turned on any more at the Honeywell thermostat. Questions: 1.Could the test damage the thermostat, AC and fan, or both? 2. Is the thermostat still good?
