Question About Honeywell Thermostat ct2800
how thermostat works...

My thermostat wires for AC is cut off by an animal. Before I call technician for repair, I would like to understand what happens when thermostat is set to cool position. I am interested in wires connecting to AC, do they simply get short circuited or have 3V DC for AC to be turned on.
