re remote control...what r the switches inside the...

re remote control...what r the switches inside the remote for...where the battery is.....labeled 1234 they r in the up position and the fan is moving very slow on high speed, just wondering if they have anything to do with the speed ..not an eazy tast trying to find a manuel thanks Betsy
