0 I have a Goodman Heat Pump with the following ID's: Model: CPLJ24-1A Serial: 0406144476 I cannot find anything when searching with these numbers... even the Goodman site... I'm gonna say the unit's probably a 1999 model as that's the year my house was built. I can get cooling from the unit... but the pump will not run when I call for heat... strictly electric heat.. $$$

0 Apparently, if you are using a digital thermostat that is programmable, the heat pump will not come on. I didn't find this out until I received a $600 light bill last month, because my unit was only heatin with the heat strips. They said that something caused the thermostat to reset (like a power outtage or something) and that caused the thermostat to reset the settings telling the heat pump to come on. I remember that we had a transformer blow a few months ago, so maybe that is it. He tried to get the thermostat reprogrammed to the heat pump, but had no luck. They installed a new thermostat, still digital and automatic, but not programmable, and I have had no more problems. The heat comes on and I have wathced my useage drop from a $33/day high down to $12/day. You can use myusage.com to keep an eye out and get alerts.
