I had the temp set on 68° an the next morning the...

I had the temp set on 68° an the next morning the ac had adjusted itself to 78 an is beeping.. what does this mean? The timer continously cuts off an starts beeping an it shows a counter counting up to 12 an then it starts over at 1 again..
