Question About Genie Garage Door Opener G5050
Disable the remote...

O am trying to figure out how to disable the remote control option for a Genie Model G5050 Direct Drive residential garage door opener.

0 Light stays on. How does it shut off.

0 Open the back and look on the right (while facing your garage door and behind your opener). On mine, there is a vertical circuit board with a power cable coming from the left and plugging into the top of the right-side board. This board, from what I can tell, is the wireless remote controller. (Mine came unplugged once and the wireless remotes stopped working while the wired worked.) Unplug that power cable and ensure it is tied down or at least safe from shorting or getting into the motor. I believe it has 3 wires (but may have 4). I believe this is a harmless modification.
