My ac will not turn off by remote or button on ac. I have to unplug, why?

0 Hello maryh209, thank you for your post! Based on what you are describing if the unit only turns off by unplugging it, then therefore the issue more than likely lies with the control board. Let’s try resetting the air conditioner by pressing the TEST button on the cord. You will notice a click as the button pops out. Then press the RESET button. Again, you will notice a click as the button engages, now turn unit on. If resetting the power to the appliance does not correct the issue, I would suggest contacting an experienced service technician to determine the precise cause and to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.
