Question About FireplaceXtrordinair Indoor Fireplace 36-Elite
cold block...

I have trouble trying to start fires. The smoke comes back into the house. I've tried lighting a piece of newspaper as suggested in owners' manual. Sometimes this works, but many times the cold block never resolves.

0 I had this problem for years....NO MORE....I read in a lot of areas - now I do the following two things and have not had the problem since. 1. Pull the by-pass control completely forward so that there is the least resistance to heat going up the chimney. 2. Open a window to the outside, close to the fireplace. Works for me, hope it helps you.
