I received a Fedders Window Ac unit, model number ...

I received a Fedders Window Ac unit, model number A6X08F2D-A from a neighbor. The unit worked in his house. I brought it home and hosed it out because it was filthy and he never cleaned it. Now it won't stay on and if I touch any of the buttons it shuts off. I can get it to work by pressing the reset on the plug. any suggestions?
