We have the Emerson 1F82-0261 thermostat. Went to bump temp up & it shocked me like static electricity. The display now is garbled & it appears it is not working at all. Is there any type of reset or is it fried & will have to be replaced?

5 If it isnt working its probably fried. My guess is it was installed poorly and the conductor was touching the device. When you touched it you acted as a path to ground, especially if your hands were wet. When a new one id's installed ensure that the device is properly grounded. This means connecting the green wire on the thermostat both to the box and to the bare ground in the conductor. Have you checked if the breaker is tripped? Also if it is a low voltage or line voltage thermostat. - friendly electrician
