alarm code beeps when turning it on and it reads e...

alarm code beeps when turning it on and it reads e1. I simply removed the back cover to check the filters. Turned it back on and it beeps with alarm light lit beeps and reads e1. Someone please help. ALSO -- have ensure tank is empty.
